A Little Bit of Sparkman Stephens Trivia

Sparkman & Stephens has been located in New York City since the inception of the firm in 1929. The original offices were located at 11 East 44th Street, just about across the street from where we are today. The office was then moved to 79 Madision Avenue, and finally to our current location at 529 Fifth Avenue (Corner of 44th Street and 5th Avenue), where weve been for 17 years. In the very early days an adjunct design office was located at the City Island boatyard of Henry Nevins (image above). Note the "Drake Sparkman" name only. This was 1928, a year before Sparkman & Stephens was incorporated. I believe they were waiting for Olin Stephens to turn 21 years old before incorporating, which they did on October 28, 1929.

Of course now we also have additional offices in Newport and Fort Lauderdale.
