3 Generations of Stephens
This image was taken in 1931 just after the Dorade victory in the trans-Atlantic Race. Left to right: Olin J. Stephens, II, Roderick Stephens, Sr., Olin J. Stephens, Sr., and Roderick Stephens, Jr.
Roderick, Sr. owned a coal delivery company in Westchester County, and sold it in 1929, just prior to the Great (Stock Market) Crash of that year.
That fortuitous timing eventually led to Rod, Srs investment in Dorade, the yacht that helped greatly to put Sparkman & Stephens on a trajectory for success.
