Westchester Medical Center Childrens Hospital Sailing Neighborhood

Special projects - In 2004 we were contacted by the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center (New York) about designing a special "sailing neighborhood" space where children and families could relax, known as the sailing salon. Each wing of the Childrens Hospital was to have a special lounge inspired by different interests. Designed to feel like the main salon of a traditional sailing yacht, the salon serves to enrich the lives of the children, as well as the families of children being cared for at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. While Sparkman & Stephens took on the design of the space, (after some gentle persuasion), the joinery was contributed by our friends at Derecktor Shipyard. Its just one of a variety of special projects we have enjoyed participating in.
